To My Sister

Dear Julia,

Because you are not allowed to see or speak to me, I wanted to try and reach you this way.

I don't know what all you have been told, but alot of the things that I have done over the past 9 years was to ensure that you were and would be protected.

I miss the nights that you would ask to sleep in my room with me, I remember many nights that I would watch you sleeping and praying that God would not allow me to forget how you looked and the connection we had.
Even though there was almost 13 years between us, I'd like to think that even years cannot seperate the bond that sisters have with eachother.

I remember that you LOVED to play with your dolls and have tea parties with them, that was never really my thing...Horses and anything outside was more me.
I can totally picture you and mom upstairs in the attic having your own little tea party together, I thought that was really cool that my mom had finally had her little princess.  :o)

I want you to know, that you are more than welcome to get in contact with us at ANY time. We will welcome you with open arms and our home is yours whenever you need it.

I always have and ALWAYS will love you,

Love, Laura

  3. This is such a nice letter to your sister. I have a sister too and don't know what i would do without her, I pray that you and your family and sister could mend things. I was a rebellious child and am so thankful my family never turned there back on me . I hope if you family is reading this, that they could swallow there pride and make things right with you. They are leading a church and suppose to be an example. I hope and pray your family will one day find peace.

  4. All laura would have to do is swallow her pride and get right and I know her family would take her back with open arms.

  5. if that were truely the case then "WHY" (how many years ago?) did they not continue the dialogue when she sent the christmas gifts for everyone "how many years ago"? that was an open invitation for dialogue if i have ever seen one. obviously you DO NOT know the MS temperment or are just not wishing to see it!!!!! this is also a perfect opportunity where laura is opening her heart and arms. laura i commend you on your open heart and loving Godly attitude!!

The only way her family would take Laura back is for her to totally sacrifice her identity and change into what her family wants her to be. I don't believe for a minute that they would welcome her back into the church or the family as she is.

  7. Laura should never change who she is or what she believes. Laura is a wonderful loving human being. And her sister would be very lucky to have Laura and her family in her life.

  8. If people actually knew what Laura tried to do to her family after she left, then she would be labeled as the lier she has become.

  9. a lot of people do know and are waiting for that part of her story, its far from over. we believe her because of the person she has become.

  12. 1 Corinthians 13

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

    5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

    6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

If Laura can prove that what she is doing with this blog is love then I will join her side.

She will have to base it upon this passage as it is the definition of love.

If not, then she is not right with Gad as she claims and is not worthy of the title Christian. as Gods love is defined in this passage.

  13. If anything, Laura's parents are the ones you should be saying that to. They're the ones who need a crash course in how to behave lovingly toward their own daughter (because how they did act toward her wasn't at all loving). Laura is doing NOTHING wrong with this blog; what she is doing is exposing certain people for who they truly are. Not everyone will like it, obviously. Laura's parents are the ones who are in the wrong, not Laura.

  14. to saved by grace:
You are not the judge as to who is worthy of the title "Christian". Only God sees the heart and can know that. To us with human eyes certain things look like they're ungodly and are things we don't agree with, but we can only see what's on the outside. God looks on the heart and knows our desires and ambitions far better than we even do ourselves.

Claiming someone is not worthy of the title Christian is NOT for YOU or anyone else to say.

You don't have a clue as to what Laura did to her family. She has not done anything according to the Love Of God. She is not exposing anything but her bitterness and unforgiving spirit.

    ReplyDelete
  16. God tells us that we will be judged according to his Word. If Laura (or anyone) is not living like Christ then she (they) are not worthy to be called "Christian". The word of God is the judge and we base peoples Christianity on how they compare to it. We can't Judge the heart but we can judge their acts, according to what the Bible says.

I do know what Laura has done FOR her family(not "to" her family" She has only tried to protect her family according to Canadian laws. If that is not love then I don't know what is. I would never wish what was done to Laura on anyone. Do you think what was done to Laura was done out of love? You have no clue!

  18. Sorry Jason,

You were not even around when Laura started all this. you only have her side to go on.
It's sad that many people have built their lives on lies. Laura started this all for what reason healing? No, she started this because she has to keep living the lie that she started many years ago. no one expects you not to defend her. But you should at least help her in the healing process not the revenge process. "The worst kind of deception is self deception".

you should try to be a mediator between Laura and her Father. just think of the freedom from bitterness that could be enjoyed if reconciliation was made. you would bring healing to your entire family. Now that is true Christianity.

Thank you for understanding my need to defend my wife, but you either don't know the whole story,(which has not been shared by Laura on this blog) or you are only hearing one side. FYI, I have tried to be a mediator on two different occasions. Let me set the stage for you.

The first time I met with Pastor Sullivant was about a year after we were dating. I called him and asked if we could get together and talk, he said yes, and we set a time to meet at the church. We entered his office and sat down. Pastor Sullivant leaned back in his chair with his hands folded in front of him and said " So...what are you hear for, either Laura is pregnant or your getting married, either one I don't approve of." Wow I could not believe my ears. Neither, I replied, I just thought after dating for a year that it was due time to meet her father.(At the time we were living together, we have repented for the fornication and have since been married for 7 years) Her mother sat in another chair just sobbing. He continued to tell me that I could not believe anything that Laura told me, and that she should be committed to an institution for her mental illness. He told me that if we got married, it would not last because she would destroy our marriage. That meeting lasted about 45 min.

The next time I met with him, I asked what it would take to get this family fixed. He said Laura would have to submit in writing, that all of her accusations were a lie. I told him I could not see that happening.

To those who keep telling Laura to go home and her family will take her back with open arms; now you know what needs to happen. Laura has never given me any reason to doubt her side of the story. I do not expect her to have to lie to protect her father from the awful things he has done.

Maybe if her father would admit that he has been the one lying to cover for his wrong doings to Laura, his own parents and many other former members of the PVBC, some healing could begin to take place. By the way, we have been told that any correspondence between Laura and her parents needs to pass through his Lawyer.

Now you have my side. I have done my part.

  20. for 10:40 a.m.....and I am praying that that reconciliation process will be initiated by Michael Sullivant, the one who was the older, more experienced adult at the time this all began. What freedom from bondage he would experience and enjoy! And what healing would come to the whole family circle as he takes the first step. He would be held in high esteem, GENUINE esteem and regard by his whole family, not superficial or "because we have to". Let's all be in prayer for this family situation, bring them before Christ each day. God loves each one of them equally and desires so much for His love to show through each one of them!

I, too, come from a family that has a history of pastors, and I know the pressure there is: to perform well all the time, be an example in all things, keep the "house" in order, have respect and obedience from your children and on top of that - make sure that they feel loved, give them space, let them express their views, listen to them and try to come to a decision that works for both sides. Even then you always wonder...have I done right? But, I do know, that taking a child aside and expressing to him/her that you should have handled the situation differently is humbling, very hard to do, but so rewarding! As a result children find it easier to do the same, when needed.

Both camps need prayer, grace, courage and a vulnerable heart. Praise the Lord that God has gifted us with the Holy Spirit who will "lead us into all things" as we ask for direction, a forgiving spirit and above all...love for the person we need to forgive. The act of doing it must come first, and then God will fill the heart with love, there is no dount. This Holy Spirit is able to do all that for us and even more, but we can not do it with our own reasoning or common sense, so to say. May God powerfully make His redemptive qualities shine as we see Him glorified in reconciliation! He is waiting to do just that!

  22. "Saved by Grace", I must say that even though your name links to the Pembina Valley Baptist Church's mission statement, your comments have been rather decent. Unfortunately of all the spelling mistakes to make, you typed "Gad" instead of God?! That would be something you might want to proofread. Unless you don't know God, nor the spelling...

  25. I think that if Laura made accusations that caused her father to get a lawyer then maybe Laura should make sure that makes those things right.
I have not heard that Mike Sullivant went on the attack, only that Laura has & is.

Laura please be careful as to what you do.

    Don't be naive.

If some day you have to get a lawyer for legal council, does that mean your guilty?

Come on people don't be stupid

  30. Attention anonymous @ 12:48 pm

So what if you choose being a lawyer as a profession? does that make you perennially guilty?
Someone is not thinking with any degree of certain coherency again! probably someone disconnected with this situation and who has drank a large glass of "busybody" juice.

  31. My heart goes out to Laura. I do not know the situation at the church, but I have known Laura's parents since they were teenagers. I also know both of Laura's sets of grandparents and all of her extended family. I cannot believe that the decent people I have known for many years could be guilty of these accusations. I certainly hope not, but I have been in more than one church that is a so called IFB church. These pastors tend to run the chuch as if they are running a business. Attention, no one person owns the people in the church, God does. If the pastor is in the wrong, he needs to go. God bless you Laura and your family.

  35. I heard about your bolg and was interested in reading it. I must say...I live in Winkler and am horrified at what happens in this church. It would be interesting to see what the Pastor makes in a year! I see the tired moms, 10 babies hanging onto mom and how sad they look. I have also heard personal stories from people who attended this church. believe me I will never understand why this church was allowed to set foot in the town! The only wonderful thing that will happen from this is that someday Pastor S will meet God and I am glad to say he will recieve his justice. All the children that were not fed on earth because he drains families income using Gods name will be fed and happy. As adults we make our own decisions, but I feel sick for the children and poor women who suffer.

  37. *** Anon..April 19 12:26 pm..1. You can find out from Revenue Canada and the church books what he makes... 2. Some people said he used the money from the sale of the Bible college in Altona for himself. It went to pay off a church property mortgage. They even had a mortgage burning ... service
    3. I have seen very few hungry children in the church. I love to see the creativity, the singing and the fellowship after each service .
before you say all these things, come and check us out.
For years I heard all these things too about Pastor Sullivant.. Some were so outrageous I began to check them out and in fact went to him.
We attend the PVBC because we love the preaching / teaching, fellowship, an d the help they've provided during some difficult times. Not money help, just real genuine love-filled help.
For your info - the PVBC is experiencing the highest attendance in the church's history. Maybe that is a sign the Lord is in it, not the pastor or the deacons... 602 on sunday morning praising, worshiping, an d loving the Lord and the pastor wasn't even there.
